Crafty Saturday #42

Happy Saturday, everyone! I wrote this post up in advance because I know that this weekend is going to be so busy packing and moving to a new apartment. (Hopefully I've figured out where I'm moving to by now!?) haha it is quite interesting to be writing for the future. Anyway, here is this week's round up of craft and DIY ideas. Enjoy!

Anklebiters

As you might have noticed, I do not really focus on fashion or what I wore posts as much as I originally did on this blog. As I have grown, I have realized that my greatest passions are for the environment, wellness, and other things along those lines. I still really enjoy putting outfits together, but it is less of a priority as I move forward with my life.

With that being said, I do sometimes receive emails from companies asking about collaborating or working out a sponsorship deal. That's why you are getting an outfit post today! This adorable lace top is mine thanks to DressLily. Make sure you stop by the site to see the other cute clothes they sell.

As far as my song choice, the self titled album by Paramore that was released in April 2013 has really meant a lot to me. The song "Last Hope" has really helped me get through a very dark point in my life that I have been just emerging from recently. I didn't want to use that song, though, because the lyrics are a bit depressing, and I have been in a much more positive mood lately. I chose "Anklebiters" because it's a fun song with an important message that I have been realizing more and more: don't let people drag you down. At the end of the day, it's just you that you have to rely on. (Also, the title "Anklebiters" reminds me of mosquitoes because they always bite my ankles and it's summer now.) You can listen to the song here on YouTube.

Tumblr Tuesday #54

This week is so crazy and hectic! I have been urgently searching for an apartment for July and August, since my lease ends July 1. Not to mention that I haven't even started packing! I'm not in panic mode...yet, but I'm sure that isn't too far away haha
I'm looking forward to a new place - a change of scenery, and getting to live in another part of the city. I'm pretty excited.
Here are some of my favorite Tumblr posts from this week. You can probably tell that I have moving on my mind from the number of posts that have to do with houses/design.
As always, you can follow my three main blogs: vredig, wildflwrchild, and cleangreenvegan.

Happy Summer Solstice!

Hello friends! This past week has been so busy. I'm currently in the middle of finding a place to move into temporarily for the rest of the summer, and I want to move in a week! Needless to say, things have been a bit frantic, but I am trying to contain composure and balance while going through all of this. Also, as you know, I quit my office job, and I am now working part time at a vegan cafe in Cambridge. I figured I needed a break from all the corporate madness, so I am working at this cafe to enjoy myself, meet new people, and gain new experiences. I'm so excited to start.

On another topic, today is the Summer Solstice! It is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and it is also the beginning of summer. In honor of the Summer Solstice, I've put together a post dedicated to this very day. I will post this week's Crafty Saturday tomorrow.

Scientifically, the Summer Solstice occurs in the Northern Hemisphere when the earth is tilted at an angle where the sun shines directly on the Tropic of Cancer, which is 23.5 degrees north of the equator. The image below gives a visual description.

Spiritually, the Summer Solstice has many different values in different cultures and religious/spiritual traditions. Many of these traditions call for celebration and a time for renewal.

According to Circle of Light
The Summer Solstice celebrates the joy, warmth and laughter of summer; and [the universe]'s power. The beginning of summer represents a time for purification, renewal and healing of the self & soul, a time to release the sadness, fears and pains from your life. A time for purification and renewed energy.
The Sun exerts its' maximum power at the Solstice because the tilt of the Earth's axis makes the Sun's rays most nearly parallel on that date at points in the Northern hemisphere. The time is here to complete external physical manifestation and all energies are about exerting the will. In ancient times it was considered a time of fullness of life, worldly blessings and celebration. Not much has changed today in how we look at summer. We see it as a time of vacations, play, celebration, fun, joviality, parties, and barbecues with family and friends at the beach or park. Days are longer which gives us more time to enjoy the sun and soak in its warmth.

My suggestion would be to take time today to set goals for yourself for summer. Give yourself the time and space to enjoy the sunshine and maintain a positive outlook on life.

Tumblr Tuesday #53

Hi friends! Sorry there wasn't a Crafty Saturday post this week - I spilled water on my computer, and it stopped working for a few days. I am so grateful it randomly started to work again, though. There's no way I could afford to buy a new laptop (or would I get a fancy tablet?) right now. Thank you to the universe for looking out for me.

Anyway, here is this week's Tumblr Tuesday. Enjoy!

Tumblr Tuesday #52

Hi friends! So I've heard from a lot of you that my Tumblr Tuesday posts are your favorites, so I plan to continue these. Sorry I'm only just starting to get back to them now - it was hard to remember to do them when I was working all day andthen trying to squeeze in some yoga.
Anyway, here are some of my favorite posts in the past few weeks (I post way too much to go all the way back to when I last posted, sorry).
As always, feel free to check me out on Tumblr: wildflwrchild, vredig, and cleangreenvegan.
