It's been a while since I've posted anything for sale in my Storenvy shop, but I have finally added a few pieces of jewelry, and will be adding much more within the next few days. I urge you to look around and let me know if you want to negotiate prices on anything. ;)

Inspired By: Bomb Girls

As I mentioned in my Currently post last week, I watched the series "Bomb Girls" on Netflix and absolutely fell in love. I watched both seasons in a week - I just couldn't get enough.
I decided that I would put a few looks together that were inspired by three of the main characters in the show: Kate, Gladys, and Betty.
If you haven't seen this series yet, I highly suggest it!!

Bomb Girls: Kate Andrews

Bomb Girls: Gladys Witham

Root: Inspired Food & Juicery

The other night, I went on a date (shocking, I know) to Root in Allston (Boston, MA). I cannot tell you enough about how wonderful this place is! The atmosphere is so relaxed and organic. They have a small menu, but everything on it sounds so incredible. I cannot wait to go back and try something else.

I ordered the build your own burger with pickled carrots, avocado, and garlic aioli. This place is entirely vegan, and I was so happy to see that they have some really cool vegan options, such as a vegan aioli!

I personally cannot wait to go for brunch today and try out the waffles, donut bites, and so much more. Check out their menus online!

I highly suggest you check this place out next time you're in the Boston area (and let me know, so we can go together!). Here's their site: http://www.rootboston.com

In the Trenches

In typical New England style, autumn has been far too short, and winter has come far too early. I am already avoiding patches of black ice on the sidewalks, and it isn't even Thanksgiving yet.

Now that I've moved to Boston, it seems that I do much more walking than I have ever done, even than when I was living on a college campus. My "pretty" coat is not thick enough or suitable for the cold, and my "practical" coat makes me look like a jolly, round marshmallow. Not to mention it's not in the best shape, since it is probably about seven years old. I'm thinking I need a warm, thick trench coat.

Here are some lovely trench coats that serve multiple functions as practical AND pretty.

Currently - 13 November 2013

I figured that after a long hiatus, the best way to jump into things on my blog would be with a 'life lately' post.

Listening - currently nothing. I did happen across a great podcast last night, though. It's called The Goddess Factory, and it is very empowering!

Eating - I last had some dumplings with soy sauce. (I don't remember what they were called, but I got them from the freezer section in Whole Foods.)

Drinking - Thai tea...it's delicious!

Reading - I have been reading like crazy. Find me on GoodReads: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/18946570-melissa-amaral

Watching -I have become super obsessed with American Horror Story: Coven (I have not yet seen the first two seasons) and Bomb Girls. If you haven't heard of Bomb Girls, I highly suggest it! It's on Netflix Instant.

Planning - My weekend trip (it's not much of a trip - only an hour by train) back to my parent's house.

Wearing -a short sleeve sweater that I bought a few months ago, pants, and grey boots (that are entirely falling apart)

Nails -bare. naked. lol

Feeling - excited because I am entering yet another chapter of my life...I'm nervous, but looking forward to it

Weather -sunny, but cold (a puddle on the side of the street was partially frozen over)

Wanting - a new job that gives me the freedom to express myself and be who I am

Needing -a job that pays the bills

Thinking - about how much if I didn't have student loans, I would just go live off the land

Enjoying -this amazingly decorated coffee shop that I am currently in, as well as the fact that I am back to blogging!

Honey, I'm Home!

Hello my dear friends!

Many thanks to all of you who have stuck around while I was on hiatus. My hiatus was much longer than I had anticipated, but my life has taken many different twists and turns within the past few months, as it tends to do.

Nonetheless, I am back, and I cannot wait to start blogging again! I haven't come up with much of a plan of attack, but I'm so happy to be back that I don't even care.

I missed you all! <3
