The Ely Watch by JORD

Hey everyone! I'm very excited to be sharing this post with you today. I was contacted by JORD, a maker of hand-crafted wood watches, to try out and share my opinion of their watch, and I am so glad I did - this watch rocks!

The watch that I chose is the gorgeous Ely watch in Green Sandalwood & Maple.

Truthfully, I chose the green sandalwood and maple watch for the gorgeous color, but sandalwood is one of my favorite scents for incense and essential oils, while maple is one of the most familiar trees to me, having grown up in New England.

On their site, JORD explains the inspiration behind the Ely watch:
Our hometown of St. Louis has a downtown dotted with historic brick buildings. Varying in size and structure the modest designs have remained relevant to the modern day businesses and homes that now inhabit them, like the Ely Walker Warehouse - now lofts - that our Ely is named for. Its classic styling and construction has stood the test of time. Time honored style will find no lack of appreciation in the present day.

In order to show off my beautiful new watch, my friend, Jen, and I went out for a walk around Gammino Pond in the town that I grew up in.

I really wanted to take pictures with this watch out in nature to showcase the beauty of its natural elements.

The JORD website also includes some interesting information about the materials of its products.

Did you know that the average tree height of a maple tree is 90 feet? They also include information on wood sources, sustainability, and more for each of their products, as well as information on the watch movements and glass.

"Sustainable, efficient, simple, and influenced by experiential living, JORD owners don't just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go."

Anklebiters

As you might have noticed, I do not really focus on fashion or what I wore posts as much as I originally did on this blog. As I have grown, I have realized that my greatest passions are for the environment, wellness, and other things along those lines. I still really enjoy putting outfits together, but it is less of a priority as I move forward with my life.

With that being said, I do sometimes receive emails from companies asking about collaborating or working out a sponsorship deal. That's why you are getting an outfit post today! This adorable lace top is mine thanks to DressLily. Make sure you stop by the site to see the other cute clothes they sell.

As far as my song choice, the self titled album by Paramore that was released in April 2013 has really meant a lot to me. The song "Last Hope" has really helped me get through a very dark point in my life that I have been just emerging from recently. I didn't want to use that song, though, because the lyrics are a bit depressing, and I have been in a much more positive mood lately. I chose "Anklebiters" because it's a fun song with an important message that I have been realizing more and more: don't let people drag you down. At the end of the day, it's just you that you have to rely on. (Also, the title "Anklebiters" reminds me of mosquitoes because they always bite my ankles and it's summer now.) You can listen to the song here on YouTube.

January White

Today is the first day of my final semester. I should be more excited, but honestly break went by way too fast. I didn't accomplish anything I told myself I would. So it goes.

Here are some photos my superbly talented best friend/twin (we've been best friends since preschool and everyone always assumed we were sisters) took of me recently. Check out here photography here.

This year is a sealed envelope;
With apprehensive hope
We brace for anything.
I swear, I understand that nothing changes that,
The past will be the past,
But the future is brighter than any flashback.

Well, we could let our guards down a little easier this time,
We could trust that when there's joy, there's nothing dark behind.
In spite of history,
Hope is January white.

Cinder and Smoke

Give me your hand
And take what you will tonight, I'll give it as fast
And high as the flame will rise
Cinder and smoke
Some whispers around the trees
The juniper bends
As if you were listening

I wore this when I met my good friend, Emily, for lunch at Julian's in Providence on Saturday. It was my first time going to Julian's and I would highly suggest it! They have a variety of vegan options on the menu and the atmosphere is really cool.

Happy Monday, everyone!

Settle Down

Wore this outfit to class last week. It has been so cold lately! Tights with leg warmers on top are a wintertime staple of mine. Also, cozy & oversized sweaters...need I say more?

sweater - Chicnova ; shorts - secondhand H&M ; tights - Target ; legwarmers - dance supply store ;
shoes - Berk's ; ring - Charlotte Russe ; watch - gifted

We can settle at a table
A table for two
Won't you wine and dine with me?

Iris

Wore this outfit to class yesterday. I feel like I look so short and young in these photos (I'm actually 21 years old and 5'7). What do you think about the bathroom photos? Are they too weird? It's the only place I can get a decent amount of light.

I'm also just in a good mood today because I quit one of my three workstudy jobs. I never have enough time to finish all of my schoolwork or even relax, so this should be a good thing for me.

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

Tin Man

dress, Buffalo Exchange / rain boots, Burlington Coat Factory / cardigan, thrifted

I got no arms
I got no legs
Got no shoulders
But I got a head
I got a head that tells me stupid things to do.
But I got heart
"Tin Man" - Animal Kingdom

Yesterday was such a busy Friday. To combat my hectic day, I wore something simple and easy. I really love this dress that I bought at Buffalo Exchange in Portland, Oregon. It has a really fun pattern. It was also raining all day, so I had to wear my rain boots!

Breakeven

I wore this outfit to class and work on Monday. :)

sweater - Atmosphere, thrifted / blouse - Lina, thrifted / pants - Delias, thrifted / shoes - Puma, gift

I'm still alive, but I'm barely breathing
Just praying to a god that I don't believe in
"Breakeven" - The Script

I'm not really a huge fan of The Script (although they were quite good live!), but I figured that the first line of the song fit my life very well right now. I have been struggling with some sort of asthma issues for the past two weeks that have rendered me nearly incapable of breathing. I am on the recovery, though! I hope to be completely better very soon.

Her arms are wicked, and her legs are long

Favorite Looks This Week (Take 2)

I'm not off to a good start posting my favorite looks every week, but that's okay. Here is this week's edition:

1. I love the peep of sky blue those socks provide. It's a great contrast to the skirt.
2. I really adore off the shoulder tops, and those shorts! They look like the ones I posted about here.
3. I can't get enough of bustier tops...I realy love that this one is paired with a very high waisted skirt.
4. I love everything about this look - the skirt, the tied top, the jewelry, the red lips, the bun - just everything!
5. That dress is so beautiful - the detailing is just gorgeous.
6. I think that top is really cute. It has a vintage look, and I love the necklace paired with it.
7. I had to add this look because I didn't think it was possible to not look like a dweeb with Mickey Mouse ears, but she pulled it off here.
8. I really love this romper; it has a similar vintage vibe as the shirt in #6 does.

Starting Now

I want to crawl back inside my bed of sin
I want to burn the sheets that smell like your skin
Instead I'll wash them just like kitchen rags with stains
Spinning away any piece that remains of you

Hello, I'm in Delaware

How many hearts will die tonight
And will things have changed
I guess I'll find out in seventeen days

But I will see you again
I will see you again a long time from now

Favorite Looks This Week, Take 1

It's safe to say that I have a slight addiction when it comes to Lookbook. I love browsing all the different looks and drawing from styles around the world.

Here are some of my favorite looks I saw this week:

    1. I love the carefree vibe of the untucked shirt, bell bottoms, and head scarf. The red lips really add to the look.
    2. This look is just so fun in everyway; from her wild hair down to her Mickey Mouse dress shirt.
    3. I've been lusting after a sheer blouse of some sort, and I really love this one with the bold color accent. I also love how she kept it casual with cut-off shorts and Converse's.

    4. I love these bright red skinny jeans! I love that she kept up the rocker vibe with the fedora and tee, but added the matching necklace.
    5. This look is so simple, but she wears it so well that I just hadd to include it in my list.
    6. I'm always in awe by people who can pull off wearing an old rocker tee with a skirt and keep the look edgy and sexy.
    7. Another look featuring my obsession for colored pants! But besides those pants, look at that amazing space-inspired shirt! I can't get enough of space stuff.

    8. I adore this crochet top and how fun it is paired with the bright shorts.
    9. Rock n' roll with a little bit of fun with the peek-a-boo neon bandeau bra - so much fun.
    10. This look is so soft and elegant; she looks like a beautiful woodland fairy.
    11. Fringe is always fun, and I'm all about showing a little bit of leg while still keeping it classy.
