Spring is in the Air

While it has 'technically' been spring for over a month now, it is only just starting to feel like spring here in Boston. The trees haven't turned green yet, but I am ready to start my outdoor garden (I have been growing seedlings indoors since early March).
The gorgeous weather has inspired this Etsy treasury that I put together. I can't think of anything that screams springtime more than these gorgeous items! Click on the image to be brought to the treasury on Etsy.

Crafty Weekend: Holiday Edition, Part III

It is absolutely blowing my mind that Christmas is only a few days away. I am leaving tomorrow to spend a few days at my parents' house. I'm looking forward to seeing all of my family. I spent this evening painting some wrapping paper (aka paper grocery bags). I really like how they've turned out. Hopefully I will remember to take some pictures of the gifts wrapped in them so I can share it. I hope everyone is having a low-stress holiday season. Remember, the holidays are meant to be a time of joy, sharing, and celebration. There is nothing important enough to stress about enough to ruin this magical time of year.
End rant. Here is the last installment of this year's holiday craft round-up. I hope you have enjoyed the little trilogy of posts!

Crafty Weekend: Holiday Edition

There a few changes to this week's Crafty Saturday round-up. First of all, I didn't manage to post on Saturday, so it's coming out now on Sunday. Second, for the next few weeks, I will be sharing holiday-themed craft and DIY ideas. As a young adult, I have started to fall a bit out of the holiday spirit, especially when it comes to decorating. These great ideas get me back in the holiday spirit and eager to decorate. I hope you enjoy them!

Eco-Friendly Gifts 2014

Two years ago, I made an Etsy treasury list featuring some really neat eco-friendly gifts, and to this day, it has been my most-viewed blog post. Since this feature was so popular, I decided to bring it back again this year. Below is the image of the treasury. You can click the picture or follow this link to view the treasury on Etsy and view each item: https://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTc0MDkyODl8MjcyNzA3Nzg4OA/eco-friendly-christmas-gifts-2014

I hope you like it! I'm definitely going to be trying to make a lot of the gifts and cards I am making this year. Anything that I purchase will most certainly be eco-friendly! How has your shopping been?

Happy Earth Day!!

Happy Earth Day to my fellow earthlings! Today is the day to go outside and celebrate how beautiful nature is. Of course, every day is good for this (and for practicing sustainability!). Enjoy some pictures of our beautiful earth.

Coral reefs are underwater structures made from calcium carbonate secreted by corals. Coral reefs are colonies of tiny living animals found in marine waters that contain few nutrients. Most coral reefs are built from stony corals, which in turn consist of polyps that cluster in groups.

Happy birthday to me!

This girl right here (aka me) just turned 22! I can hardly believe it. Time has been flying by so fast. The majority of me still feels like a teenager. Absolutely no part of me feels like I'm in my early twenties. It is so mind-boggling. In less than two months, I will be graduating from college and entering the "real world". I currently have no plans. I don't know where I am intending on living (either the Northeast or Pacific Northwest, I am hoping), but I currently don't have a job or much of anything lined up. A huge part of me feels like I am in denial about all that is going on in life right now.

Negativity aside, I am so happy to have had an incredible 22 years on this planet so far. I'm looking forward to many great years to come. I want to thank all of my amazing readers, as well, for making my blog such a success! I really never thought I would have come as far as I have in the blogging world.
Time to go enjoy lunch (and hopefully some yummy vegan treats) with a good friend. x

Eco Friendly Gifts

Guess who has only just started the majority of her holiday shopping today? You guessed it, this girl right here. I spent all morning out shopping/panicking about what to get people for Christmas. I had some luck. I unfortunately might have to make another trip out tomorrow morning.
I really love the idea of getting people eco-friendly gifts. I always try to incorporate environmentalism into every aspect of my life (and then try and push it into other peoples' lives too..). It may be really last minute and too late to get things shipped in time for Christmas day, but I still wanted to share an Etsy Treasury of eco-friendly gifts that I put together. I hope you like it! (You can click on the image to view it on Etsy.)

Gifts That Give More, Part 2

This week, on my holiday Gifts That Give More feature, I wanted to share the organization Freeset with you. Gifts That Give More, Part 1

With the holiday season rapidly approaching, I figured I should start up some holiday posts! Rather than post typical wishlists (which I do every Wednesday already), I have decided to start a little series called "Gifts That Give More" and focus on gifts to give this holiday season that benefit more than just who is receiving the gift!
Today's post features gifts from the site Global Girlfriend. Here's what the organization says about themselves:
Global Girlfriend was created by Stacey Edgar in 2003 to help women worldwide gain economic security while providing you unique products and a simple way to help women in need. Our fair-trade boutique offers a line of trend-setting, women-made, fair-trade products including stylish apparel, accessories and gifts with one purpose -- helping women in need help themselves. We believe passionately that economic opportunity for women holds the promise for real change in the world; because when women have an income, they reinvest in themselves and in their children's health, education and nutrition, building stronger families and communities over time. Many women try desperately to make a living selling their artisan-quality goods but find that they have little access to market opportunities. Through fair-trade practices, Global Girlfriend brings the work of these disadvantaged groups directly to you. Global Girlfriend believes in forming long-term partnerships that provide women a fair living wage with equal employment opportunities, healthy and safe working conditions, technical assistance and development strategies to foster prosperity and reduce poverty.

Global Girlfriend offers a wide variety of gifts. Here are some of my favorite items:
