The Ely Watch by JORD

Hey everyone! I'm very excited to be sharing this post with you today. I was contacted by JORD, a maker of hand-crafted wood watches, to try out and share my opinion of their watch, and I am so glad I did - this watch rocks!

The watch that I chose is the gorgeous Ely watch in Green Sandalwood & Maple.

Truthfully, I chose the green sandalwood and maple watch for the gorgeous color, but sandalwood is one of my favorite scents for incense and essential oils, while maple is one of the most familiar trees to me, having grown up in New England.

On their site, JORD explains the inspiration behind the Ely watch:
Our hometown of St. Louis has a downtown dotted with historic brick buildings. Varying in size and structure the modest designs have remained relevant to the modern day businesses and homes that now inhabit them, like the Ely Walker Warehouse - now lofts - that our Ely is named for. Its classic styling and construction has stood the test of time. Time honored style will find no lack of appreciation in the present day.

In order to show off my beautiful new watch, my friend, Jen, and I went out for a walk around Gammino Pond in the town that I grew up in.

I really wanted to take pictures with this watch out in nature to showcase the beauty of its natural elements.

The JORD website also includes some interesting information about the materials of its products.

Did you know that the average tree height of a maple tree is 90 feet? They also include information on wood sources, sustainability, and more for each of their products, as well as information on the watch movements and glass.

"Sustainable, efficient, simple, and influenced by experiential living, JORD owners don't just have somewhere to be, they have somewhere to go."

Babysitter Style

As I've mentioned recently, I've started working as a nanny/babysitter for the two cutest girls. Lately, I have been wearing t-shirts and shorts when I go watch the girls, but as summer turns to fall, I will be bringing the girls to ballet class, playdates, etc. I think it's time I change up my outfits...

So, what are the best nannies good at? Always being ready to run around, make a mess, clean up, and have everything on hand! The best outfit for the best nanny is polished and stylish, yet casual enough that it can stand the test of chasing after children and spilling everything (and who doesn't want to wear something fun and that they can enjoy). White is a major no-no (especially with younger children), and skirts are just going to lead to disaster. These looks that I have put together are affordable, stylish, fun, and guaranteed to pass the test of being a full-time nanny.

Let me know what you think of these looks in the comments below!

Anklebiters

As you might have noticed, I do not really focus on fashion or what I wore posts as much as I originally did on this blog. As I have grown, I have realized that my greatest passions are for the environment, wellness, and other things along those lines. I still really enjoy putting outfits together, but it is less of a priority as I move forward with my life.

With that being said, I do sometimes receive emails from companies asking about collaborating or working out a sponsorship deal. That's why you are getting an outfit post today! This adorable lace top is mine thanks to DressLily. Make sure you stop by the site to see the other cute clothes they sell.

As far as my song choice, the self titled album by Paramore that was released in April 2013 has really meant a lot to me. The song "Last Hope" has really helped me get through a very dark point in my life that I have been just emerging from recently. I didn't want to use that song, though, because the lyrics are a bit depressing, and I have been in a much more positive mood lately. I chose "Anklebiters" because it's a fun song with an important message that I have been realizing more and more: don't let people drag you down. At the end of the day, it's just you that you have to rely on. (Also, the title "Anklebiters" reminds me of mosquitoes because they always bite my ankles and it's summer now.) You can listen to the song here on YouTube.

Inspired by: American Horror Story Coven

Yes, I'm aware everyone has already done American Horror Story: Coven, and it is talked about way too much...but can you really blame people?? I personally loved the show, and probably more for the fashion than for the plot (can't say I was blown away by the fairytale ending). Despite how overdone it is, I put together some looks inspired by some of the most stylish and iconic characters in AHS Coven. Enjoy!

Wishlist Wednesday: Aupie

After coming back from my blogging hiatus, I decided to slightly alter the posts that I have been doing every week. If you are and have been a regular follower, you have probably noticed that I am still doing Tumblr Tuesday and Crafty Saturday, but have not yet done Wishlist Wednesday. As much fun as Wishlist Wednesday was, it was a lot of work to do. I have decided to no longer do a Wishlist Wednesday every single week, but rather I will be doing it occasionally. I'll do these posts when I have a sponsorship agreement with a company (which is the case this week), or when I find a brand I really like and would like to share. How's that sound?

This wishlist Wednesday is brought to you by Aupie.
I was contacted by Aupie earlier this month and asked to do a post featuring my favorite items...I had no idea that there would be so many items I really liked! The site has so many options - there really is something for everyone! I hope you like my picks.

Inspired By: Bomb Girls

As I mentioned in my Currently post last week, I watched the series "Bomb Girls" on Netflix and absolutely fell in love. I watched both seasons in a week - I just couldn't get enough.
I decided that I would put a few looks together that were inspired by three of the main characters in the show: Kate, Gladys, and Betty.
If you haven't seen this series yet, I highly suggest it!!

Bomb Girls: Kate Andrews

Bomb Girls: Gladys Witham

Bomb Girls: Betty McRae
